Bargara is located on the most southern area of the Great Barrier Reef a spot where you can get up close and personal with resident turtles and manta rays and truly experience the beauty of the world’s largest living organism. It is also home to largest Turtle Rookery in the South Pacific, and the Mon Repos Turtle Encounter which takes places from November to March each year is your chance to watch these Mumma turtles lay their eggs (November to January) and then the little baby hatchlings (January to March).
We absolutely loved this place and planning when we can go back already. The location is amazing - the gentleman we spoke with on arrival was fantastic . You literally are right on the beach !! Perfection .

The views each morning overlooking Kellys Beach was sublime. The two flights of stairs were a good workout! Its a short walk from the main area, close to a swimming lagoon, but being absolute beachfront is the winner. The cheeky Bundy Rum (from the Distillery in town hahaha) on the deck of an evening, basking in the warm salty air made this getaway amazing.

This is a great location. Right on the beach front at Bargara which is perfect for either a couple or family. Shame the Austar was broken ??? The only word of advice check parking as the car park was being renovated. No major issue. Read less
